1. Who was Saint Patrick? He was born in Roman Britain and was captured by Irish Raiders and taken as a slave when he was about 16 years old.
2. What did he do? Why do people care? After being released from slavery he returned home and joined the church with his father and became a rned mandeacon and a bishop. He is known as the Saint who "drove the snakes out of Ireland". He was an active missionary in Ireland.
3. Do you observe the day religiously? Yes...I wear my St. Patrick medal. Am very proud of it. Many people argue he wasn't real and I beg to differ! I will back you down!
4. Does your city dye its rivers green? No.
5. Do you usually party on St. Patrick's day? I'll have a drink maybe but I deffinitely rock the green and the flogging molly cd in my car!
6. If you aren't wearing green on St. Patrick's day, what do people traditionally do to you? Pinch you! duh!
7. When was the first St. Patrick's Day celebration in the U.S.? March 17, 1762!!!! (in NY.) yea, I know m stuff!
8. In what countries is it a public holiday? I would say Ireland, Britain, US...but I am not 100% sure.
9. Is it a public holiday in your country? Yes...we should get the day off though! lol...Federal Holiday!!!
10. Do you think it should be? Um...I think if someone wants to celebrate, yeah...but if someone doesn't thats fine. I hate the people who say its just another excuse to drink or its the day known as when the Irish get drunk!!! Its so much more than that!
11. What are the 3 St. Patrick's Day colors? Green, White and Orange (same as Irelands flag)
12. Do you eat anything green? I had a boyfriend one year who made me pancakes and dyed them green. That was cute and sweet.
13. Do you drink anything green? Green beer baby!
14. What does Ireland make you think of? Erin/Eirinn=Ireland...so my name =) It makes me think of beautiful scenery, historical landmarks, wonderful music, awesome people, my heritage, my ancestors (the Campbell's were known as one of the most "hot-tempered" families in all of Ireland! =)... I try not to think of all the bad that goes on there.
15. Do you know anything else about Ireland? The Guiness factory in Ireland is owned by the Japanese. How that happened I will truly never know! lol...
16. What kind of music is appropriate for Saint Patty's day? Irish dance, Irish jig...Celtic Women, Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murphy's...lol...The Lord of the Dance soundtrack!
17. Any family traditions? Corned beef and cabbage! and for dessert, Irish potato cake...its awesome!
18. Do you like Saint Patty's Day? OBVIOUSLY!!!!
19. Have you ever been to a huge parade or celebration of it? No, but my goal is to go to the parade in NY or even celebrate it in Ireland...sittin at a pub somewhere singing with some fellow drunk irishmen!!!
20. Have you ever seen a leprachaun? Yes. =)
21. Do you get Saint Patty's Day emblems drawn on your face? I used to stick fake tatts on my arm but since i have a permanent shamrock tattoed on me now, I dont need to!
22. Do you know what a shamrock is? It is the symbol St. Patrick used to teach the Irish about the concept of the Trinity or the Christian belief of the "three devine persons in the one God".
23. What does it represent? I just explained it!
