1. Do you still hold the same religious beliefs you did growing up? the basics remain the same but a few changes in belief here and there
2. Were you raised in a specific religious affiliation, if so what? Christian, Protestant, Methodist
3. Do you believe in God and/or a single omnipotent heavenly being? I believe in God. Not sure about the whole white beard though!
4. Do you believe in the scientific theory of evolution? Yes, i believe that living things evolve to adapt to their surroundings and continute to survive. I also believe that the "7 days of creation" are not literally days but over millions or billions of years. Man invented time therefore before man existed how can days, hours or seconds have done so? Basically, at some point back in time somthing had to kick everything off. If it's the big bang what was there to cause it before it happened? If the process of expansion and contraction of the universe is continuous in current human capability of understanding there had to be an initial starting point and my belief (so my mind doesn't go crazy thinking about it!) is that God started it all. Ta da!
5. Do you believe we have an eternal soul? My belief is that tere has to be some kind of inner being as I feel far too complex for there not to be! I would also not like to believe that one I die that is it, there is nothing else, you just cease to exist. I personally need to hold on to the belief that there is something else afterwards and something good because otherwise i would be afraid of death and at the moment i'm not. I am afraid of leaving people I care about behind but i hope they hold the same belief as me that they would get to see me again in some form or another. I need that belief too, without it losing the people i've lost would break my heart.
6. Do you believe your soul existed before your physical birth on earth? hmm... tricky one! Haven't really thought about it tbh. I'm going to go with no. I don't think I existed in some kind of white floaty substance waiting to be put in some physical being. I like the idea that as life is created my soul is too, kind of a whole magical amazing mini creation.
7. Do you believe in reincarnation of the soul and why? Not sure on this one either... I've thought about it though. I'm torn. I like the idea that we can be reincarnated indefinately or maybe even a few times as a different being but i don't FEEL as though that's happened to me. Plus it would go against my belief that our souls aren't just sat there waiting for bodies as the population no the planet has grown (unless for everything born something else dies which i guess is possible) and that we will see everyone and everything we lost again some day. I'd love to be a wolf though, or a bird, or anything really! I guess the idea that you "progress" through beings would be good, ie.e. each time gets more complicated, kind of like levels on a game starting at a single cell organism and moving up to... well, maybe not human, maybe something higher! I wouldn't be too hurt to find out it was true but i would be upset to find I really was never going to see people again. Maybe once you reach the top "level" you could finally reach heaven and get reunited with everyone. Yes, I like that idea, I'm going with that one or the one above. haha
8. Do you believe reincarnation exists in the Christian bible? I don't think I've read it anywhere. But then again I haven't read the whole bible and nowhere in the bible does it discuss the theory of gravity and that clearly exists! lol
9. Do you believe that you have ever lived a physical life prior to this one? As i said, i don't feel like i have. I love wolves so maybe i was one of those or an american indian or something. Personally i have never had any experiences to make me think so.
10. Where do you think the soul goes after physical death? Heaven, or somewhere we have called that. Some kind of happy place, "walk into the light" and everything!
11. Do you believe the soul of people who experienced a near-death experience began to enter a higher or heavenly plane? It goes along with my other beliefs so I don't see why it wouldn't be true. I'm a scientist at heart though so i'd probably be one of the flat-liners to find out! haha I like the idea so I'll say yes.
12. What do you believe is our purpose on earth, if any? Simply to exist I think. Maybe we're part of some big game "God" is playing! I think the human specific purpose on earth is to see what the outcome is when a being is given complete free will. I think the planet (and universe in general) is one big living being and that we are simply little creatures living on it. We're supposed to help take care of it but we've not been doing a good job due to the free-will thing but perhaps we are like a little ant farm, he's just made one big experiement and we're a part of it. I think, like any other creature that becomes too numerous (think rabbits etc.) and has no natural predator, we have become a kind of pest on the planet. Dinosaurs did the same. Maybe "God" or the planet itself has a coping mechanism to stop us at some point... we shall see! ORRRR perhaps we live in a railway station luggage locker and worship a giant watch... haha
13. Do you believe our souls have the choice, after physical death, to reenter earthly life as someone else? erm... that's a nice idea actually. I don't think I believe it though. I think this is our chance at free-will and once we've lived it (or several of it if you believe in reincarnation and level theory above) that's it. You don't get to save at any point and re-enter the game for another go!
14. If the souls reenters earthly life, do you believe the soul has the opportunity to choose the nature of their earthly existence? Nope. I'm going with my level theory if we're doing re-incarnation whereby you start at the "bottom" of consciousness and work up.
15. If you believe souls live many earthly lives, what do you feel is the purpose of this? Maybe to gain understanding of life and living things in general. Or simply as a way to break us in slowly to the more complicated organisms until we're at a high enough point to comprehend higher level theories.
16. Have you ever met other people whom you believe you knew in a previous life? Nope
17. Do you believe we have spiritual guides or guardian angels who help us in our lives? I believe our lost loved ones watch over us as our "guardian angels" but i'm not sure how much they can interfere. I think people who think they've seen ghosts have probably seen an echo of some kind rather than a physical presence.
18. If a young child talked about detailed experiences they never had in their present life, would you believe the child was reincarnated? I'd be more inclined to believe in it yes but there could be many other explainations.
19. Do you believe what we do in this life determines who or what the soul will be in the next life? Perhaps... how well we do might mean how quickly we move up the "levels" or something. Or maybe not and thing swill just go through each life and make the same mistakes over and over. Some to think of it... if I can't remember any of my previous life, how would i not make the same mistakes again?
20. Do you believe there will be an ultimate end to all physical life on earth at some point? Yep. I believe that the Earth will be destroyed completely at some point in time, possibly crashing into another planet or something. Before that all life will have been extinguished by the death of the sun and other scientific factors. I don't think a meteorite or something could destroy ALL life... not unless it smashed up the planet or changed it's orbit or something.
21. Do you believe your soul will exist eternally in either heaven or hell? Yep. I think there has to be something forever because I cannot comprehend "nothing". It's that simple, my brain is unable to imagine what "nothing" is! Because of that I have to believe I will exist in some state forever. Maybe not heaven (but I'll stick to that one cos it's a nice ending) and i'm not sure on hell,,, but somewhere in some form.
